Drake Planetarium

21 12 2013

Did you know we have a planetarium in Cincinnati? And no, I’m not liking about the observatory. Drake Planetarium is located on the 4th floor of Norwood High Schhol.

To get there, you can park on the street and go in the seat of doors in the middle of the school. There’s a slight courtyard and a skywalk connecting the two buildings. I tell you this because it took us about 10 minutes to figure out where to go. You check in at the front desk and you’re on your way up the stairs! (They also have an elevator for those that need it). They do a few laser light shows to bands such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Metallica. For the Christmas season they also have Let It Snow. This isn’t a laser show, but a 360 projection, full of great Christmas and Holiday music, to get you in the spirit!

The bonus to going to this show? It’s shorter than the other shows, so she’ll fire up the old school star machine and let you look at the stars, point out constellations, and answer any questions you may have. I’m not going to lie, this was amazing for kids and adults! The theatre only holds about 50 or so seats, and all recline so you don’t end up with a crick in your neck. I also recommend sitting in the middle area for the Let It Snow show as it doesn’t really change sides any and kind of sticks with the middle, but there’s still not a bad seat in the house!

Seriously, go check this place out! It’s a unique spot in Cincinnati! You can find tickets here on their web page. tickets are $10 if made beforehand, $12 at the door. Tiny tots are free. I believe the age is 5, but don’t quote me on that. I’ll try to find out. Also, if you go to an earlier show and want to stick around for the next one, you can just pay up there and stay awhile longer as long as they’re not booked! There’s even a gift shop if the kids decide they want some themed goodies to go along with the night.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

6 12 2013

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, and slightly in the holiday spirit, or not-as this may get you there, I suggest heading over to the North College Hill City Center (1500 W Galbraith Rd) and see The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by the CenterStage Players.

Director – Fred Hunt

In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a Church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids – probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won’t believe the mayhem – and the fun – when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on

This is a great show for kids an adults alike. A cast of around 25 children and about a dozen adults, had me laughing and near tears at one point. For a lot of the kids, this is their first show, and you’d never know! They were all great! There’s also some great crowd interaction, that’s not scary or overbearing but just the right amount of fun. Like I said, if you’re in the Christmas spirit or not, this will get you there!

The show runs this Friday & Saturday (12/6-12/7) at 7:30pm and Saturday & Sunday (12/7-12/8) at 2:00pm. North College Hill City Center, 1500 W Galbraith Rd. North College Hill. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12.

So who doesn’t like decorating for Christmas?! Ok actually… I would normally fall into this category… until about 2 weeks before, thanks to my little sister being way over obsessed with the holiday (Love you Sissy πŸ™‚ ) But yeah I was home at the rents and all of us were together so it happened. And then I was surprisingly still in the mood to decorate the crap out of my own apartment on Sunday (No thanks to the bf who has to many excuses about why he can’t decorate πŸ˜› ) But he did at least put the hooks on my ornaments for me so he gets a slight tiny bit of credit.

Christmas Tree

This is my totally cute ass actually "themed" (red and silver) Christmas Tree πŸ™‚

Can I just go on the record by saying how absolutely hard it is to find red and silver decorations?! Seriously… take a look when you’re in a store next. 95% of it will be red and gold… i absolutely hate gold…

Fire Hazard Village

So I set up the little Christmas Village of my moms every year, and it's started to get out of hand (read doesn't fit on the mantle and piano anymore) And this was my before-i-hid-all-the-cords-under-white-stuffing fire hazard pic πŸ˜›

I also feel I should add that I was one of those horrible people I said i’d never be and was outside. in line. at Best Buy. at 2:30 am…. UGH. It was freezing while my sister waited in a nice warm aisle inside Wal-Mart next door… I am such a great big sister… considering I froze to get my oldest little brother his graduation from the army gift πŸ˜› I better get kick ass presents for that! πŸ˜‰
