Dinosaurs Alive half preview #1

We were met at Kings Island On Thursday with a storm wanting to roll in and dump its vengeance… Being the regulars we are, we didn’t let a few rain drops stop us. We went in and enjoyed the bumper cars and a few rounds on the carousel before the rain let up enough for us to walk to Boo Blasters and then get over to Diamondbacks shelter before it dumped again. After that it was beautiful non-wet sailing

At least the rain gave me a little bit of rainbow happyness over Diamondback :)

We had actually ventured to the park today for the sole purpose of checking out their new Dinosaurs Alive exhibit, but the rain hindered it opening by the time we got there. We found out at 8pm (after the park lines were closed) that if you had bought a ticket, they were still honoring them, and were letting you go through (kudos +1 KI!) If I had known that I would have gone to the little automated ticket kiosk and gotten one earlier when it was closed :( So you’re just getting a taste of what it looks like from the outside. Which is still kinda neat. They went a little all out for it. I’m hoping it will still be worth the $5.

I feel the podium actually ties in with this pretty well

Don't let him smell your fear....

Pretty sidewalk

Now the actual walking into the attraction could use some work… or maybe we just need to give it some time for the wood to wear down and actually look more blended in….

The first glimpse right before you go under the racer...

Pretty boring looking entrance

I wish I was kidding, but this thing sounds like a freakin sheep!

The sign just cracks me up!!

Play Me, West Chester

25 08 2010

So this one was a bit of a pain to find. I expected it to be closer to the shops in the square, but no. It was up in the gazebo by the water fountain that’s in the middle of nowhere in the area :P But still. This was a neat one too. Sounded good, and people where just kind of chilling around the area. Not right by it but in the vicinity.

I’m kind of bummed that these were only around for around 2 weeks. and that i only hit what? 6 of them? But it was truly one of thee awesomest ideas!! I’m going to miss it…

Play Me, Jungle Jims

17 08 2010

Ok so this weekend after playing some killer softball for the Jerry’s Kids MDA Softball Tourney (which happens to be the world’s largest softball tournament for Muscular Dystrophy) and taking an awesome 3rd place!! up from our 4th place finish last year, (way to go Professional Floor Service Ladies!) It was back to Cincy and time to take some noobs to Jungle Jims.

And of course… they had a piano there too :D My whole family took their turns on it. And I must say, this may not be the prettiest looking one out there. It has definately seen better days, but man, it has Thee most Gorgeous sound to it! Just wow.

I wished I had gotten pictures of the little boys faces when they saw the lobsters and the fish in the vats. Priceless!

Play Me, Sharonville

12 08 2010

Alright… No beating around this and drawing it out.

This one. Is. My. Favorite! In both look and sound. It’s definitely thee neatest looking one!!

Sharon back

I love when they do something to the backs as well! :)

Sharon front

:D it's just so cute!

It’s located in Depot Square in Sharonville, right outside of Anton’s Ice Cream (which is well Nom!) Right next to a real train car, surrounded by patios.

Depot Square

Great location! cute patios and lots of shade to enjoy music

This piano is not only the coolest looking one, but it’s the best sounding too. It’s reverb is awesome! And I don’t know if its the piano or the placement, but traffic doesn’t even come close to drowning out the sound! You can hear it all up and down the square (which I guess could be good and bad). But if you check out only one, so far I’d say this one is it!

looky

Ok maybe not so cute as it wants to eat my fingers....

Play Me, Blue Ash

11 08 2010

So on my lunch break, I had to head out to Blue Ash to pick up some stuff for work from a sign shop, and I remembered that there was a piano down that way. Why not? It works towards my goal. I had checked the website earlier and noticed a small crowd enjoying the weather about an hour and a half prior, so it looked in a prime location to hunt it out. I stopped at Jersey Mike’s with a co-worker, then it was off in search of the piano!

This one reminded me of what you’d find in a school music room. The sound was just… well… sound I guess. It didn’t have that reverb or that deep tonal quality. It wasn’t bad. Not at all. I’m a music person. I can play about 7 different instruments marginally well. I can hear tones. To anyone else, it sounded great! But it was still nice. It was a shorter upright so the sound was way different than the full one I played on last night at the Kennedy Art Center. So maybe I’m comparing apples to bananas here…

But the search continues. And I’ll update as I find more :)

And so it begins

5 08 2010

So as I’ve been digging more and more into this whole blogging thing for work and I couldn’t help but notice a few other Cincy people really into blogging as well! I mean i blogged in high school and some in college on Xanga and LiveJournal (are those sites even still around?!) back when it “”wasn’t cool and people wondered why the heck I wasted my time with them. This can’t be that hard right?

So anyways after checking out some of these blogs and currently getting started on the Yelp scene I figured “might as well” I need a new venue off of Facebook anyhow. And I noticed a lot of these happened to center more around downtown. But thats the great thing about Cincinnati… it’s a bunch of small towns and communities that make up one great awesome city! If I can help out some over noob to the city, then this all won’t be in vain right? So come join me in my crazy adventures through the city, and the occasional side trip to other parts of Ohio and the country (aka my theme park rantings). I promise if nothing else it’ll (hopefully) be entertaining :)

This was the pretty rainbow my phone stinks at capturing outside the front door of my office building in Evendale/Sharonville this morning :D
